The European Commission has imposed fines on a number of investment banks for taking part in a cartel in the secondary trading market of Supra-sovereign, Sovereign, and Agency (SSA) bonds. The banks’ traders provided each other with recurring updates on their trading activities, exchanged commercially sensitive information and coordinated on prices. The behaviour of these banks violates EU competition law that prohibits practices such as collusion on prices.
